When the Colorado Avalanche won the 2022 Stanley Cup Finals last night knocking off the two time defending champions the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Arizona Coyotes also hit the jackpot with the victory.
When the Arizona Coyotes traded Darcy Kuemper to the Avalanche last offseason, the deal came with some conditions that were not official until last night with the cup victory. With the championship, the Coyotes also receive a 2024 3rd round pick added in the deal.
The final condition that was required for this pick to be added was that Kuemper must win the stanley cup and appear in 50% of the Colorado Avalanche's games, which both were achieved last night.
The Coyotes already have 6 picks in the first 3 rounds of the 2024 draft, so obviously they are planning to make this rebuild take awhile.
