Claude Giroux was the Big Fish of this year's trade deadline, but it appears that wasn't actually the case. It appears that Giroux has made his decision that he wanted to be a Florida Panther all along. It was already reported that the star forward had turned down the opportunity to be a Boston Bruin and a New York Rangers.
It was long rumoured the forward wanted to be a member of the Colorado Avalanche, and the Avs were seen as a front runner. That was never the case though according to Frank Seravalli.
Sources say Claude Giroux notified #Flyers he was only willing to accept a trade to #FlaPanthers. That was his team, the destination. Florida knew that.
I'm told #Flyers never engaged in conversation with #Avs - or any other team for that matter.
Giroux who owned a full no-move clause had every right to make this decision and it appears he took full advantage. Giroux's decision would explain the limited return received by the Flyers in this deal.
