Canadiens Legend Guy Lafleur passes away at age 70 - R.I.P
We regret to inform you that we have lost another one of our hockey family today. The NHL has lost another legend at the young age of 70 to Lung Cancer.
Guy Lafleur's sister called the Montreal area radio station to let them know that Guy passed away overnight.
Guy was part of multiple stanley cup winning teams with the Montreal Canadiens, played in 1126 regular season games and scored 1353 career points. He played three seasons outside of Montreal with the Rangers & Nordiques, but Guy Lafleur will always be remembered as a Montreal Canadien.
The Flower played parts of 17 NHL seasons with the Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers and Quebec Nordiques, recording 560 goals and 793 assists in 1,126 games.
He won the Stanley Cup with the Habs in 1973, 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1979, the Hart Trophy in 1977 and 1978, the Conn Smythe in 1977, the Art Ross in 1976, 1977 and 1978, the Lester B. Pearson Award in 1976, 1977, and 1978 and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1988.
Internationally he represented Team Canada 🇨🇦 on three occasions winning the Canada Cup in 1977.
