The Providence Bruins terminated Tuukka Rask's PTO this morning and we all assumed it was because he was close to signing an NHL deal. We can now confirm that is the case as Rask has officially signed a one-year deal with the Bruins for $1,000,000.
Due to his signing during the year Rask will only make $545,000 in payment due to the NHL's pro-rated deal rules.
Rask was acquired by the Bruins in exchange from the Toronto Maple Leafs for former Calder winner Andrew Raycroft. Rask has gone on to have an amazing career for the Bruins playing in 14 seasons and 560 games.
Rask has a career save percentage of .921 and a goals against average of 2.27.
The next steps for the Bruins will be finding out what happens to
Jeremy Swayman or
Linus Ullmark as the Boston crease is really crowded.
