Breaking: Panthers' First Overall Pick Officially Placed on LTIR
The Florida Panthers will play their first game of the 2023-24 season tomorrow against the Minnesota Wild.
Unfortunately, the Panthers will start the season without their strongest defenseman.
Big Loss In Florida: Panthers Lose First Overall Pick to LTIR
He's been placed on LTIR to make
Justin Sourdif's arrival easier, to replace Bennett.
With Sam Bennett in a boot and slated to miss Thursday's season-opener against the Minnesota Wild, the Florida Panthers have recalled rookie forward Justin Sourdif.
In order to facilitate the move salary cap-wise, the Panthers placed defenseman Aaron Ekblad on long term injury reserve.
The Panthers have a huge target on their backs. After a huge playoff success, every team that will play against them will have extra motivation.
Last year, Ekblad scored 38 points in 71 games, but his contribution is more than just point production: he's a reliable physical presence at the blue line.
