A sad announcement was made in the last few hours.
Former Oiler announce retirement
Bogdan Yakimov, who used to play for the Edmonton Oilers, has made the decision to stop playing hockey.
Sometimes, when a player gets injured, they have to leave the game earlier than planned. This is exactly what happened to the 28-year-old.
Yakimov was born in Russia. He joined the Oilers in 2013 and played with them for two seasons. However, he spent most of his time in the AHL. But he did have the opportunity to play in one game in the NHL.
Last year, Yakimov played in the KHL, that's when he got injured.
