Official Who Got Into Altercation Gets A Promotion
Last season during a Toronto Maple Leafs game a linesman by the name of Dan Kelly got into an altercation with Michael Bunting. Kelly had been criticized heavily for his treatment of Bunting at the time.
Now the Kelly has received a promotion from the NHL.
The incident between Kelly and Bunting occurred after a scrum broke out between Toronto and Tampa Bay. Kelly came in to break it up and separated Bunting from the rest of the players. Kelly then shoved Bunting out of the rink making him lose his balance.
This was not Kelly's first issue with the Leafs. Kelly also got into hot water for a dirty hit while playing in the AHL against the Toronto Marlies in 2016.
It will be interesting to see how many Toronto Maple Leafs games Dan Kelly gets an opportunity to referee this year.
