The NHL season is now just a few days away, and on Saturday, waiver placements included several former first-round draft picks.

The highly anticipated wait for the 2025/26 NHL season is almost over, with the NHL set to host a trio of games to kick off the new season on Tuesday, as all 32 teams aim to hoist the Stanley Cup at the end of the campaign.
As a result, teams have spent the last few months fine tuning their roster, and with pre-season now over, teams are looking to finalize their squads ahead of the regular season.

Former first-round picks highlight Saturday waivers

Because of that, we've seen more than 100 players placed on waivers over the past week, and on Saturday, we've seen a further 15 players waived by their teams ahead of the new campaign.
Here is the full list of players:
Forwards:
Thomas Bordeleau (Devils)
Angus Crookshank (Devils)
Brian Halonen (Devils)
Zack MacEwen (Devils)
Rafael Harvey-Pinard (Penguins)
Bokondji Imama (Penguins)
Samuel Poulin (Penguins)
Colin White (Sharks)

Defensemen:
Vladislav Kolyachonok (Stars)
Tobias Bjornfot (Panthers)
Dennis Gilbert (Flyers)
Alexander Alexeyev (Penguins)
Ryan Graves (Penguins)
Colton White (Devils)

Goalies:
Brandon Bussi (Panthers)
Among them are Penguins veteran blue liner Ryan Graves and newly acquired Zack MacEwan of the New Jersey Devils, but with the full list revealed, we see two further former first-round picks on the list.
Those would be Tobias Bjornfot of the Florida Panthers and Colin White of the San Jose Sharks, but given the abundance of wingers available around the NHL right now, it's uncertain if either of them will be claimed in the next 24 hours.
Ultimately, at this time of year, most of the players placed on waivers will be journeymen or underperforming young talents, and on Saturday, it was more of the same as well, but with two players that were once first-round picks, it's safe to say that there may be more interest in this list than there has been over the past week.
