Over the last few days, we have seen over 50 players placed on waivers by teams looking to trim their rosters down, and thus far, absolutely none of them have been claimed, as confirmed once more by Elliotte Friedman.
Now, the NHL's top insider has revealed the latest group of players placed on waivers, with seven teams (Colorado, Edmonton, Los Angeles, Minnesota, San Jose, St. Louis, and Utah) adding a total of 12 players.
Once more, none of these players bring with them the major shock factor of being waived, but there was an intriguing addition in the form of Nikita Alexandrov, who was just signed on a one-year, two-way deal by the St. Louis Blues earlier today.
The 24-year-old played in 23 games with the Blues last season, tallying just two assists over that time, but clearly, the team still has high hopes for their former second-round draft pick. Beyond Alexandrov, there are no real names of note added to that list today, with many simply looking to clear waivers before being sent back to the AHL ahead of the regular season, but according to fan reaction, there could finally be a claim tomorrow.
That's pure speculation from a fan, but it shows that Alexandrov still has plenty of potential and may draw interest, but for now, it's likely that a majority if not all players will clear waivers as other NHL teams remain focused on building their roster with the players that they already have.
