Matt Rempe has taken the hockey world by storm after his call up, but not for scoring, instead for fights and big hits. With Rempe and the New York Rangers heading into Toronto, it was everyone's expectation that there would be a big clash between Rempe and Ryan Reaves.
Initial altercation was Rempe ignoring Reaves to get under his skin
Everyone expected Reaves and Rempe to mix it up within their first shift together, but that did not happen. In fact, with the Rangers up 1-0 Reaves was asking Rempe to fight, but Rempe was ignoring him. Clearly a way to get under the veterans skin, but also a savvy move with his team up.
Ryan Reaves asked Matt Rempe if he wanted it but the kid shook him off... for now 👀
The two later clash in a rather long bout
Later in the third period, with Toronto up 3-2, the two squared off at centre ice. It was a pretty even bout with each getting good punches thrown in. The crowd was also clearly entertained.
It is tough to judge a winner on my end, but since I find it a tie, I will say tie goes to the home squad.
