Jamie Benn and Marcus Foligno ignite massive Stars-Wild line brawl

Dallas and Minnesota clearly never got the bad blood out of their system after the spring.

What was supposed to be a routine preseason tune up turned into a full scale line brawl on Friday, with Stars captain Jamie Benn and Wild forward Marcus Foligno throwing punches before nearly every skater on the ice paired off at once.

The Benn Foligno fight was not even the first one of the shift.

Just seconds earlier, Stars defenseman Thomas Harley and Wild winger Matt Boldy squared off along the boards, setting the tone before the benches truly emptied.

Once Benn and Foligno went, the gloves came off everywhere, with linesmen scrambling to sort out multiple pairings at the same time.

None of this comes as a total shock given the history between these two clubs.

Minnesota eliminated Dallas in six games during the first round of the playoffs last spring, a series filled with hard hits and heated moments between these same rosters.

A preseason game carries no real stakes, but this one made it obvious neither side has forgotten how that series ended, and it is a serious warning sign for how physical these two teams could be whenever they meet again once the games actually count.

For fans who thought preseason games could never be entertaining, this was one to totally flip that switch.
