Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin, the greatest NHL goal scorer of all time, recently said that he critiques his seven year old son Sergei Ovechkin's games from the perspective of an NHL pro.
He's the best goal scorer in NHL history, having recently scored his 1,000th combined regular season and playoff goal.
But Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin is also a hockey dad, and he routinely watches the games of his seven year old son Sergei Ovechkin.
Alex recently said that he told Sergei to adjust the way that he was playing during a game, or else "you're just done".
So when I watch, I watch from the perspective of a professional hockey player. Like, I know what should have been done differently in that situation. So one time, I'm at his practice here in Kettler. I'm watching and I'm thinking, 'What the hell is this even?' I went down, we were watching from the stands up there and I said, 'If you keep playing like this, you're just done.'
He got it, nodded, understood everything. So I guess I'm, you know, more picky than my mom, his grandma. She's watching his skating, his stickhandling. But I'm just looking at the whole situation happening on the ice. - Alex Ovechkin

Alex Ovechkin Is A Pending UFA
What does the future hold for Ovechkin in the NHL, now that he's 40 years old?
Ovechkin is a pending UFA, and speculation began to build that this could be his last year in the NHL, especially after the Capitals traded his longtime teammate and friend John Carlson to the Anaheim Ducks earlier this month.
Ovechkin has also talked about his desire to finish his playing career in his native Russia.
