Carter Hart had an up-and-down start to his career with Vegas, and now, the Golden Knights have shockingly placed the goaltender on LTIR.
Despite all of the controversy surrounding him, Carter Hart made his return to the National Hockey League this season, signing with the Vegas Golden Knights and quickly being needed by the team given injuries to starter Adin Hill.
In 12 appearances for Vegas, Hart has tallied a 3.28 GAA with an .871 save percentage alongside a 5-3-3 record, and while he's been a solid backup, it's safe to say that the team were hoping for much more from him.
Carter Hart placed on LTIR
With Hill returning before the Olympic break, the Golden Knights were positive about their situation moving forward, but now, it's been revealed that Hart was placed on Long-Term Injured Reserve on Tuesday.
Back in January, Hart was placed on Injured Reserve by the organization, but now, just over a month later, he has been placed on LTIR retroactive to January 8th, meaning that he's going to be away for some time now.
As of right now, it's not expected that Hart will miss the remainder of the 2025/26 season, and given the question marks over Vegas' goaltending, it's safe to say that they'll need him heading into the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
He wasn't great in his early time with Vegas, but Hart has proven to be a solid goaltender at the NHL level, and if the team can get him back, they'll head into the post-season full of optimism, especially if they can make some other moves ahead of the deadline.
