Carter Hart is one of the more controversial names in hockey right now, but in his AHL return for the Henderson Silver Knights, he received a very warm ovation.
The past two years have been a wild ride for Carter Hart, and no matter what the fans think of his return, he has been cleared by Gary Bettman and the National Hockey League, with his return to the top level seeming to be just a matter of when, not if.
On the weekend, he
made his return to professional hockey for the first time in several years, starting for the Vegas Golden Knights AHL affiliate the Henderson Silver Knights over the weekend in what was one of the most anticipated AHL games of the season.
Carter Hart cheered by fans upon his return to the ice
His return to the league has garnered some reactions on social media, but in person when he took the ice for the first time against the Calgary Wranglers, the home fans gave him a very positive welcome.
In his return, Hart saw just 14 shots, saving 12 of them as the Silver Knights came away with a victory, and given that there's potentially a backup spot behind
Adin Hill in the NHL available to take, his play in the AHL is something to keep a very close eye on.
For this one, it was smart for Henderson to make Hart's first start at home, as fans have clearly gotten behind him there, but once he takes his play on the road this season, it's likely going to be a very different reaction, so for now, time will tell how he's received moving forward.
