The Vancouver Canucks are reportedly 'souring' on forward Dakota Joshua, who was recently extended with a 4-year contract and even came back after a scary testicular cancer diagnosis.
The Vancouver Canucks recently signed forward Dakota Joshua to a 4-year contract and also welcomed him back into the lineup after his missed the 1st several weeks of the year after a scary testicular cancer diagnosis.
He underwent surgery in September and missed all of training camp, the pre-season schedule, and multiple regular season games.
But are they already ready to move on from him? Local Canucks analyst Rick Dhaliwal indicated during a recent podcast that Vancouver
could soon trade Joshua for an "odd" unnamed reason.
I really am hearing the Canucks are souring on Dakota Joshua for some odd reason. His name is out there.
Joshua, who had a new career-best 32 points (18G, 14A) in 2024-25, didn't come close to replicating that number this year with only 14 points (7G, 7A) in 57 games played.
He still has 3 years left on the contract he signed with an AAV (average annual value) of $3,250,000.
Joshua was Vancouver's nominee for the 2025 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, annually presented to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.
For sure. That was a scary time. But I'm very thankful and just happy to be in this position still and be able to go out there and play.
An original draft pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Joshua has 78 points (40G, 38A) in 241 career NHL games.
