The Canucks placed defensemen Guillaume Brisebois and Jett Woo on waivers today, as per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman. They're the first training camp cuts from across the NHL this training camp who are not waiver-exempt.
Guillaume Brisebois is a 27-year-old who was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the third round back in 2015, with their 66th overall pick. In his NHL career so far, he has played in 27 games, scoring one goal and two assists for three points.
Jett Woo, on the other hand, was also a draftee of the Vancouver Canucks back in 2018, during the second round with the team's 37th overall pick. He has never suited up in an NHL game in his career before. Woo, 24, recorded seven goals and 31 points in 62 games with Abbotsford last season.
Teams now have 24 hours to place claims for either player. If none are placed, both players can be assigned to the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks on Friday. Waiver priority is still decided by the reverse order of last season's standings until Nov. 1.
The Canucks have been off to a decent start this preseason, coming off a 4-3 overtime win in their last game against the Calgary Flames. They play their next game tomorrow against the Seattle Kraken.
