The Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet addressed the media after a humiliating loss in the team's desperate playoff push.

Last night, the Canucks lost another crucial game to their division rival, the Seattle Kraken, by a whopping 5-0 score, a game marked by a controversial decision by Tocchet.

Rick Tocchet shares insights on his team's 5-0 loss in desperate push for the playoffs

After the game, the coach opened up on the nervousness he felt within his team and how he'd have liked to get better results:
"I think that early on, [I] saw a lot of nervousness. I think we had some guys that really gave some effort, but I didn't think we had a lot of poise tonight."

"76 shot attempts, a lot of missed nets, blocked shots, the same old story. That's where the poise is. You know the guy is going to be in front, you've got to fake it, go around, then shoot it. These are the poised plays. 76 shot attempts, I like it, but you'd like to see more results-oriented."

This loss hurts a lot for the Canucks. They are now in 5th place in the Pacific Division, with 81 points, and their playoff hopes have reached a new low.
According to Moneypuck.com, the odds of seeing the Canucks in the playoffs are 1.9%, with the Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues holding on to the Western Conference's wild card spots.
In the same press conference, Tocchet talked about how he intends to keep working hard to push for the last stretch of the season:
"You've got to believe in yourself. If you're struggling as a player, you've got to turn your game around. Plus, we've got a bunch of young guys, and you owe it to them to keep pushingI know it's the same old thing coaches say, but you've got to keep getting at it, working at it."

With seven games left in their season, the Canucks will be back on the ice Saturday to face the Anaheim Ducks, a game in which they must secure two points to stay in the race.
