Jake DeBrusk says he has not asked the Vancouver Canucks for a trade despite ongoing rumors, and insists he still believes in the city and the team.
Jake DeBrusk is done letting rumors do the talking.
With Vancouver stumbling through a brutal stretch and fully committed to a rebuild, DeBrusk has become an easy name to attach to trade speculation.
Instead of staying quiet, he addressed it directly with Sportsnet's Iain MacIntyre.
DeBrusk made it clear he has not asked the Canucks for a trade, despite what has been floating around online.
He said he signed in Vancouver for a reason and still believes he can help the group, especially the younger players trying to find their footing in a locker room that looks nothing like it did two years ago.
"I'm falling in love with this city."

It is a notable moment for a franchise that has changed shape since DeBrusk arrived.
Vancouver moved on from Quinn Hughes and brought in a new management group led by Daniel and Henrik Sedin after finishing at the bottom of the standings last season.
A rough year that changed his outlook
DeBrusk admitted last season humbled him in ways few years in hockey have.
He talked about how losing forces everyone to take a hard look at themselves, and he seems to have come out of it with a clearer sense of who he wants to be for this new-look roster.
Why the fans still matter to him
One thing DeBrusk keeps coming back to is the atmosphere inside Rogers Arena, even during the worst stretches.
He pointed out that the building stayed full and the fans kept cheering through a genuinely difficult season, and that loyalty clearly left an impression on him.
Whether Vancouver's rebuild eventually leads to DeBrusk moving elsewhere remains to be seen, but for now, he is publicly all in on staying.
