Pierre LeBrun shares the latest on the JT Miller situation
NHL insider Pierre LeBrun revealed tonight's update on the JT Miller trade situation.
Whether or not the Vancouver Canucks will trade JT Miller no longer seems to be a question fans are asking themselves.
At this point, the question is when will the Canucks trade Miller?
Yesterday, NHL analyst Nick Kypreos revealed that the team is urgently trying to move him due to a new feud with head coach Rich Tocchet.
However, it seems like the team may not be treating this as urgently as we previously thought.
In his latest article for the Athletic, NHL insider Pierre LeBrun noted that the Canucks have been honest about their intention to trade Miller, but cautioned that it may not come as soon as we think.
According to him, a deal may come quickly, but it could also come as late as next summer.
"The Canucks and Miller have communicated clearly that a trade is the likeliest end result. There's no clear timeline, however, on when that can be accomplished. It could be this week, could be closer to the March 7 trade deadline, or could be this summer. All three options remain on the table."
The insider also gave us more information about which teams are actively pursuing Miller.
Of course, the New York Rangers have long been considered the favorites to land the veteran center, but two new teams have entered the negotiations.
Those would be the New Jersey Devils and the Carolina Hurricanes. The Hurricanes in particular seem to be very interested in Miller.
"The Carolina Hurricanes and New Jersey Devils are among a handful of teams that have also had talks with Vancouver. The Canes are very much interested and trying to figure out if there's something they can do that makes sense."
At this point, it seems like anyone's guess is as good as ours as to when this trade will take place, so we will just have to patiently wait for the Canucks' next move.
