Carter Hart has returned to the NHL, and others may not be far behind, with the Canucks potentially checking in on Alex Formenton.
Recently, Gary Bettman and the NHLPA came together to reinstate several players to the NHL, and on Thursday, the signings began when Carter Hart inked a
multi-year deal with the Vegas Golden Knights.
This was always expected to be the move, as Hart was the most productive of the players in the NHL before their departure from the league, but that doesn't mean he'll be the only one to sign a new deal.
Vancouver Canucks Have Potentially Checked in on Alex Formenton
One of the other players still with NHL potential is Alex Formenton, formerly of the Ottawa Senators, who is also trying to make a return to the league after spending this time away.
According to Canucks reporter Rick Dhaliwal, there's a chance that Vancouver have checked in on him, as he revealed so on the latest episode of
Halford and Brough in the Morning.
While Dhaliwal doesn't straight up say that the Canucks have checked in on the 26-year old, the fact that he even addressed it in the first place reveals that there may be something there between the two parties.
Currently, Formenton is playing in the Swiss-A league, tallying 2 goals and 1 assist in 10 games played with Ambri-Piotta this season, showing that he can still produce at the professional level.
Only time will tell whether Formenton and potentially Michael McLeod & Dillon Dube also return to the National Hockey League, but after the backlash that the Golden Knights received, there's a chance that teams may be frightened in signing any of these players.
