Dhaliwal singled out Hutton as the player who catches his attention most, noting real conversations have already taken place between Hutton's camp and the organization, even if nobody knows yet where things end up.

Hutton's path back to Vancouver would be a strange kind of homecoming.

Hutton, now armed with a Stanley Cup ring from his time in Vegas, brings exactly the kind of steady, well-liked veteran presence that regime wants in that room.

He can log minutes up and down the lineup depending on what the night calls for.

With roughly $17.8 million in cap space sitting second most in the NHL, it's easy to see why so many unsigned players are getting pitched toward Vancouver right now.
