Isaac Belliveau lands with Abbotsford after stints with the Penguins and Sabres organizations, adding depth to the Canucks blue line.

The Canucks organization added another body to their blueline depth chart this week, and it comes with a bit of a well traveled backstory.
Isaac Belliveau, a name hockey fans may remember from his days in the Pittsburgh Penguins system, has agreed to a one year deal with the Abbotsford Canucks of the AHL.
Belliveau was originally a fifth round pick of the Penguins back in 2021, taken 154th overall out of the QMJHL where he spent time with both Rimouski and Gatineau.
He wore an assistant captain letter in Gatineau for two seasons and was even named to the league's all rookie team early in his junior career, so the pedigree has always been there even if the path to pro hockey hasn't been a straight line.

A winding road through three organizations

After his time in the Pittsburgh system, which included stops with Wilkes Barre/Scranton in the AHL and Wheeling in the ECHL, Belliveau was dealt to Buffalo as part of the return for Connor Clifton back in June 2025.
That led him to Rochester, where he skated in 36 games last season and chipped in six points from the back end.
Now at 23 years old, the 6 foot 2 defenceman is looking for a fresh start on the west coast.

What this means for the Abbotsford blueline

Belliveau joins a crowded but talented group in Abbotsford that already includes names like Jack Thompson, Guillaume Brisebois and Kirill Kudryavtsev.
It is a depth move more than anything.
But for a player who has bounced around three organizations in five years, a fresh set of eyes in a Canucks development system that has churned out real NHL contributors lately could be exactly what he needs.
