Insider Michael Russo says Hughes knows exactly where Larkin wants to go, and Vegas and Florida may be out of the picture entirely.
Quinn Hughes and Dylan Larkin have reportedly been skating together every single day this offseason, and that detail alone is turning heads across the hockey world.
According to insider Michael Russo, the two Team USA teammates have built a real relationship on the ice, and it might be paying off for the Minnesota Wild in a big way.
Russo's report indicates Hughes is fully aware of where Larkin wants to land, and it points straight to Minnesota.
The Red Wings captain requested a trade earlier this offseason, and while his list originally included Vegas and Florida alongside the Wild, that picture appears to be shifting fast.
Vegas and Florida cooling off
Neither the Golden Knights nor the Panthers currently have interest in pursuing Larkin, based on Russo's latest update.
That leaves the Wild as the only team still actively in the mix, and daily workouts with Hughes certainly don't hurt Minnesota's case.

What it means for the Wild
Bill Guerin has been chasing a difference making center for weeks, and Larkin fits exactly what this roster needs down the middle.
Pairing him with Hughes, Kirill Kaprykov and the rest of Minnesota's young core would give the Wild one of the most exciting top ends in the league.
Cap space remains tight in Minnesota, and Detroit still wants a return that reflects Larkin's value as a captain and a proven scorer.
Yzerman hasn't shown any urgency to move him for anything less than a fair package.
Still, the relationship angle here is real, and it's not something that shows up in a normal trade rumor.
If Larkin's preference truly is Minnesota, and the other suitors are backing off, the Wild might finally have the leverage they've been waiting for all summer.
