The Utah Mammoth had a great first season, and not only do they have the No. 4 pick in the NHL Draft, but they may be looking to add more talent via an offer sheet.

After a successful first season in the NHL, the now Utah Mammoth are looking to take a step forward and potentially into the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2025/26, and with plenty of assets to use in the off-season, they can improve in many different ways.
The first is the 2025 NHL Draft, which sees the team using the No. 4 overall pick, and while some have suggested moving the pick to land a veteran, it appears they're ready to use it to add to an already impressive young core.
The second is the much more intriguing way to add a player, and that is via an offer sheet, something that once again hit the spotlight after Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg were both stolen from the Edmonton Oilers by Doug Armstrong and the St. Louis Blues.
Mammoth GM Bill Armstrong learned under Doug early in his NHL front office career, and now, he's addressed the notion that they could use the offer sheet to land a young star in the summer.
«We'll see what happens, right? The offer sheet has always been there. People have to realize that when you put an offer sheet in, it has to work, it has to make sense. It just can't aggravate the other team because they're going to come after you at some point in time and run up your salaries.»

While he's being realistic about the possibility of using the offer sheet, there are plenty of names out there that make sense for Utah, with the biggest name of all being Matthew Knies, a guy they could easily fit into their salary cap.
On top of that, names like Marco Rossi, Mason McTavish and Mavrik Bourque all come to mind as potential fits for this team, but Armstrong is clearly aware of the backlash it could have later on.
«In this particular case, the St. Louis Blues, it worked for them. We'll see how the new NHL adjusts to that and if it's a new thing that happens every summer. Was it just the perfect storm that it happened one time? I know in the past when it's been done to my team I was with in the past, all we did there was return the favor later on.»

Ultimately, offer sheets may be the flavour of this off-season following the Blues move a season ago, and if Utah want to land a star, this could be the way to get it done.
