Paul Bissonette revealed that the Toronto Maple Leafs should target Scott Laughton, one of the Philadelphia Flyers' leaders on the trade market.
The Leafs are still in the first place of the Atlantic Division, tied at 42 points with the Florida Panthers.
Once again on their way to great results in the regular season, the Leafs still need to win in the playoffs to prove their haters wrong.
To reach deep playoff rounds, the Leafs' general manager Brad Treliving will need to bolster his lineup by making acquisitions before the trade deadline.
While many players could be a great fit in Toronto, the former NHLer, co-host of the renowned podcast Spittin' Chiclets, and TNT analyst Paul Bissonnette revealed exactly who the team should go after.
He stated that Treliving should acquire
Scott Laughton from the Philadelphia Flyers.
Bissonnette added that the player is very likable, plays a hard game on both sides of the ice, and only earns $3 million a year.
He also talked about how the Leafs should take inspiration from the Tampa Bay Lightning, and how they didn't acquire "flashy, but foundational pieces" to their lineup.
"The name always mentioned and I love him because he plays hard 200-foot game is Scott Laughton.
I heard he's a likable guy, he makes $3M, have to give up a decent return to have him for this year and next but scout him the way Tampa Bay made trades. They aren't flashy but foundational pieces."
Laughton, 30, has 16 points in 33 games this season and plays a valuable role in the Flyers' bottom-six.
He even had a four-goal night earlier this month, against the Detroit Red Wings:
He might have a -12 rating, but he's a great leader, and with a better team around him, could get that number way up.
It'll be interesting to see if the Flyers are ready to part ways with him during his 12th season with the team, and if so, if the Leafs will be in the derby.
