Gord Stellick, once the GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced that a terrible tragedy struck him and his family over the weekend.
Stellick also served as GM of the New York Rangers, however over the last decade or so he has been the voice of radio that many Canadians have been used to hearing every day.
Unfortunately for Stellick and his family, he made an announcement on social media that his sister Karen Hardie had passed away after battling cancer. Gord said she fought a good fight, but it ultimately took her life.
Bob, Craig and our mother Rhoda are mourning the passing of our younger sister Karen Hardie earlier today after an inspiring 2 1/2 year battle with cancer. Our thoughts and prayers are with her husband Brad, her children Graeme and Laura and future daughter-in-law Aayushi.
Hockey fans can hear Stellick every day on The Fan 590 or SiriusXM Satellite Radio's NHL Network Radio. Several big media personalities in the world of sports and in the entertainment industry have begun sending Stellick their condolences during this horrible time.
We offer Gord our sincerest condolences during this very difficult time, and we hope he and his family will remain strong and get through this together.
