NHL insider David Pagnotta links the Maple Leafs to the former Canadiens captain Max Pacioretty
The NHL insider David Pagnotta linked the Toronto Maple Leafs to former Montreal Canadiens captain Max Pacioretty.
After spending most of the past three years on Long Term Injury Reserve, the 35-year-old NHL veteran Max Pacioretty will look to make a strong impact for a team that could end up going all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals.
In the past week, multiple reports confirmed that Pacioretty, who's currently a free agent, has received offers from teams and is set to make a decision soon.
In a new development, it has been revealed that the Toronto Maple Leafs are in the mix to sign the forward.
Both David Pagnotta and Nick Alberga of The Fourth Period and the Leafs Morning Take shared the following posts on X:
Finally healthy, Pacioretty could bring a lot of depth to Toronto. The sniper could be joining the Leafs' first two lines to make a deadly top-six, or be added to the third or fourth line, spreading the offensive talent across the lineup.
Last season marked his return after a long time on LTIR, and he still managed to score 23 points in 47 games. However, his four-goal tally showed that he struggled to get back to his old self. Now that he has had time to train and find his rhythm, it wouldn't be surprising to see him produce a lot more this season.
Let's not forget that earlier in his career, when he was a member of the Montreal Canadiens, he scored 39 goals in a season. His talents and leadership were recognized by the team, and he was even named captain before being traded to the Vegas Golden Knights for current Habs captain
Nick Suzuki.
Stay tuned for the latest developments about Max Pacioretty's contractual situation.
