The Calgary Flames forward Nazem Kadri is apparently ready to approve a trade to one of his former teams.
After two seasons in Calgary, it looks like Kadri could be willing to lift his no-trade clause in the right conditions.
According to a new report from The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, Kadri could be interested in moving somewhere closer to home, like returning to Toronto or Colorado.
In Pagnotta's words:
"My understanding with respect to (Kadri) is that he's willing to waive (the no-move clause) for the right situation. I think he would welcome a return to Colorado or farther East, somewhere closer to home."
Considering the Avs' financial situation, a return to Toronto seems more plausible than going back to Denver.
Also, when Kadri signed his contract in Calgary, Treliving was still the Flames' general manager. These ties could help them negotiate a potential deal.
Kadri could become the Leafs' number two center, becoming an interesting option to replace John Tavares if he doesn't sign an extension in Toronto. The team captain is set to embark on the final year of his seven-year, $11M AAV contract with the Leafs. His next deal is expected to be considerably smaller, but could still be too much for Treliving.
