Morgan Rielly’s future in Toronto uncertain after latest insider report

The Toronto Maple Leafs are expected to undergo major organizational change this summer after a highly disappointing season.

The Maple Leafs failed to qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2016 this season leading General Manager Brad Treliving to be fired.

With the continued disappointment in Toronto fans are calling for change, according to a new insider report part of that change could include finally moving on from veteran defenseman Morgan Rielly.

In a new appearance on First Up, NHL insider Darren Dreger reported that it is likely the Maple Leafs will move on from Morgan Rielly this summer.

In recent days, Rielly himself even admitted that he’s thought about the idea of being traded by the Maple Leafs.

Rielly, 32, has spent his entire 13 year NHL career with the Toronto Maple Leafs most of those seasons occupying their number one defenseman spot.

If the Maple Leafs do decide to move on from Rielly it would signal not only a major shift on the ice but in the culture of the team as well losing a major veteran presence.
