Mitch Marner was one of the Maple Leafs worst players in the playoffs, and now his tone deaf comments have draw the ire of the loyal Toronto fans.
Once again in 2024, the Toronto Maple Leafs failed to make a deep playoff run, and while it can't all be pinned on one player, both Morgan Rielly and Mitch Marner have drawn immense criticism for their post-season play. Now, he's gone and made it worse for himself after offering this comment in his exit interview with the media;
«It means the world. Obviously we're looked upon asyou know, kind of gods here to be honest.»
Unsurprisingly, fans were incredibly quick to react and clown Marner for his comments, as they come off as very tone deaf given the pathetic performances he's put forward in a Maple Leafs uniform in the playoffs.
This comment is a perfect example of why Mitch Marner will never be a meaningful piece of a cup winning team.
Given his Stanley Cup Playoff history, it wouldn't be surprising if the team looked to move him as soon as they can, and even with a NMC, it would be a shock to see him play a significant role on this team going forward.
