Max Pacioretty got emotional in his press conference after moving on to the second round of the playoffs with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Toronto Maple Leafs managed to eliminate the Ottawa Senators from the Stanley Cup Playoffs last night, on their third opportunity to close the series.
The veteran forward Max Pacioretty gave his team the win by beating Linus Ullmark with just over five minutes left in the third period.
Check it out:
It hasn't been an easy ride for Pacioretty and his family over the last few years. The former Montreal Canadiens captain suffered from many tough injuries and after being kept away from the Leafs lineup in the final stretch of the season, at 36 years old, many believed he wouldn't play in the NHL again.
When he opened up on his situation in his post-game comments, he got emotional. Here's what he had to say:
"You keep playing because you want to pitch in. When you're sitting out and the team's winning, you're happy for them, but you want to be a part of it. Just thankful for the opportunity."

"I've had a lot of conversations with people in my family and others, and I thought that I was done playing a number of times.

"Everyone always supported me to keep going, but my story's just one of many, and it's one that's public, so it's one that's talked about. But there's a lot of resilient guys in this organization who've been through a lot as well. Guys like that motivate me to just keep going."

The Leafs head coach Craig Berube opened up on his decision to put him in the lineup in an interview:
"There's always debate about lineup changes. Max had some real good stretches with those guys before he got hurt. Big guy, strong, physical, good around the net, so that was the decision there."

The Leafs will face the Florida Panthers in the second round. Stay tuned for updates.
