Max Domi gets harsh demotion from Leafs head coach Craig Berube

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been a standout team in the regular season in recent years, and while they've picked up momentum in the past few weeks, overall, this is a team that's clearly struggling.

There's many reasons for this, but unfortunately, their veterans just haven't stepped up like expected following a major departure, and now, one of those players in Max Domi has officially been punished by the team.

Following a rough start to the season, Max Domi has now officially been demoted to the Maple Leafs fourth line, with Head Coach Craig Berube instead promoting rookie Easton Cowan to the second line alongside John Tavares.

In 31 games this season, Domi has just 3 goals and 12 points to go along with a shocking -12 differential, and given how much he was meant to produce following the departure of Mitch Marner, it's simply not been enough for the team.

For Cowan however, this is a well deserved move, as he has posted 4 goals and 10 points in just 24 games played, and given how much they've invested in him as a future member of this organization, they're giving him more responsibility very early.

Ultimately, Domi has been struggling for plenty of his tenure in Toronto, and now, he's facing the backlash for it, and while there's a way for him to earn back that spot, if Cowan plays well, it's likely that we don't see him in a top-six role for the Maple Leafs again this season.
