Over the past few weeks, the Toronto Maple Leafs have seen some of their biggest stars miss practice, causing their fans plenty of panic before a critical 2024/25 season begins. Now, there's even more cause for concern, with both Bobby McMann and John Tavares missing their latest practice ahead of a second pre-season tilt with the Montreal Canadiens.
The more concerning of the two is Tavares, who is reportedly very sore after a hit in their latest pre-season game, and while there's still plenty of time for him to recover, there is worry within the Maple Leafs camp about his condition. One positive for the team on Saturday was the return of Calle Jarnkrok, but as soon as he returned, he was once again off the ice, as he reportedly left practice not long after it began.
Head Coach Craig Berube is encouraged by the return of Jarnkrok, but with his departure from practice shortly thereafter has many fans worried about his condition moving forward, especially given that he is now reportedly becoming a top trade candidate for the team.
The Maple Leafs regular season opener takes place on October 9th in Montreal, giving the team plenty of time to get healthy, but if these injury scares keep stacking up, they could be in danger of missing a key player in that matchup.
