With the NHL free agency less than a month away, the Toronto Maple Leafs would be looking to add to their weak right hand side on defense.

First person that comes to mind when it comes to solving the Leafs right hand defenseman difficulties is Brett Pesce, Carolina Hurricanes defenseman.

According to reports, GM Brad Treliving could consider attempting to bring to the Maple Leafs is Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Brett Pesce. David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period has indicated that the Leafs will be among the teams interested in Pesce's services if he ultimately lands on the open market:

«Circling back to Pesce, he will be a player both Nashville and Toronto pursue if he's available July 1,» said Pagnotta. «Clearly, there will be other potential suitors, but the Predators and Maple Leafs will go after him if they can.»

Pesce has spent his entire National Hockey League career with the Hurricanes, by whom he was selected with the 66th overall pick in the 2013 Draft. He's scored a total of 39 goals with 159 assists in 627 career games, while also adding five goals and 16 assists in 57 career postseason games.

He's coming off a six year, $24,150,000 contract that carried an AAV of $4.025 million.

Pesce, would be an amazing addition to the Maple Leafs blueline and would most probably be looking for north of 6 million dollars on a long term deal.
