The Toronto Maple Leafs have a bunch of bottom-six forwards, and now recent reporting suggests that they're ready to move on from a name or two in that group.
This off-season has been a busy one for the Toronto Maple Leafs thus far, as they've added the likes of Nicholas Roy, Dakota Joshua and Matias Macceli while re-signing John Tavares, but now, they've got a surplus of forwards.
One player who is also likely to be moved soon is young winger Nick Robertson, who recently filed arbitration with the team, and given how many bottom-six forwards they've got, he makes the most sense as a player to be moved.
Now, an analyst has looked into the landscape of the NHL, nothing that the Leafs are one of a few teams around the league with too many players to fit into their roles, and as a result, Robertson could be dangled in a trade to get Toronto back a future asset.
Most teams are pretty much set, but I still stand by my thought that we'll see more notable movement before opening night. There are too many teams with too many questions for it to not happen.
Maybe arbitration settlements will re-engage clubs. For example, the Maple Leafs seemingly have too many bottom six forwards and another in RFA Nick Robertson, who has an arbitration date on the horizon.
Over the past two years, he's combined for 49 points, making him the most sense to be dealt, but with the likes of Calle Jarnkrok, David Kampf, Scott Laughton, Steven Lorentz and others all in the mix, this team needs to shake things up.
Lately though, things have been quiet around the league, so it's unlikely we see a deal in the immediate future, but with training camp on the horizon, this is a team to keep a very close eye on.
