John Tavares on the verge of worst streak of his career, and it's another hit for the Leafs' future

John Tavares is lost offensively and head coach Craig Berube needs a solution fast.
The Maple Leafs forward is officially stuck in a massive scoring funk.
He has now gone 18 consecutive games without finding the back of the net at even strength.
That miserable stretch dates all the way back to January 25th.
This is not just a standard mid-season dip in production.
It is an alarming trend that could derail their momentum down the stretch.
A Concerning Trend for John Tavares
Over his NHL career, Tavares has built his reputation on consistent 5-on-5 execution.
Right now, that expected offensive output has completely vanished.
His longest single-season dry spell without an even-strength marker sits at 21 games, a miserable drought he suffered in the 2023-24 campaign.
He is now just three empty nights away from matching that career worst.
Opposing teams are simply suffocating his line in the offensive zone.
Toronto desperately needs secondary scoring to support their top heavy lineup.
Relying strictly on the man advantage is a guaranteed recipe for early playoff failure.
Berube has to shake up the line combinations and ignite his veteran center.
If Tavares is held scoreless at even strength much longer, panic will absolutely set in across the fan base.
Let's not forget age as a factor -- hopefully Tavares can turn it around, because he'll only slow down from here.
