Friedman reveals the future of Brendan Shanahan with the Maple Leafs
The Maple Leafs kick-started their off-season with the firing of Sheldon Keefe, and now many are wondering if President Brendan Shanahan will be next.
After yet another post-season failure, the Toronto Maple Leafs realized that they couldn't continue on with the way things have been, as they swiftly parted ways with Sheldon Keefe after their game seven heartbreaker against the Boston Bruins.
Unsurprisingly, there are major expectations of another big time change, with fans pointing to President Brendan Shanahan, who has been a huge part of all these failures as another necessary change.
Unfortunately for those fans, Elliotte Friedman has shut down potential firing rumours on Shanahan, revealing that he's likely to be given at least one more year in Toronto.
Shanahan is staying, at least for another year. I could always be wrong, but that's the impression I'm getting. He's got more year left on his contract and I expect that as it stands right now, he's going to be there to finish it out.
There's also the rumbling of potentially looking to move on from Mitch Marner or John Tavares, with a major need in net and on the blue line, but for now, it appears the changes in staff are done.
