Amazon once again produced a show around the NHL this past year, and according to reports, they had to omit something to protect the reputation of William Nylander.
Amazon has taken a major interest in the National Hockey League in recent years, not only producing 'Faceoff: Inside the NHL', but also shows based around the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Those 'All or Nothing' shows have given great insight to the behind the scenes life of those two teams as Toronto looked to chase a Stanley Cup while Montreal went through their very successful rebuild.
However, Amazon were not able to show everything, with some things likely to ruin the reputation of players and people involved in those two teams during those documentaries.
NHLPA step in to protect William Nylander
On the latest episode of the
32 Thoughts podcast, the NHL's top insider has revealed that for the latest Amazon show, the NHLPA had to step in during the Maple Leafs version of the show to stop an argument between William Nylander and then Head Coach Sheldon Keefe from airing.
Not only the NHLPA, but Nylander's agent as well, as the incident was seemingly that bad, that they needed to step in in order to protect the reputation of one of the NHL's most respected and likeable players.
In the Stanley Cup Playoffs recently, we've seen that it's not all fun and games for Nylander, as he has been happy to call out some of his teammates as his intensity comes out in the chase for a Stanley Cup.
It's unclear if we'll ever find out what happened in the exchange between Nylander and Keefe that was so bad it couldn't be aired, but as of right now, the team has done a fantastic job of protecting Nylander's reputation.
