Chris Tanev was recently carted off the ice following a brutal collision, but now, the veteran defenseman is back on the ice at Maple Leafs practice.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been off to an up-and-down start in 2025/26, and given the changes to their roster over the summer, the last thing this team can afford is injuries.
Unfortunately, they suffered a scary one recently when veteran blue liner Chris Tanev had to be carted off the ice following a collision on the ice against the Philadelphia Flyers, with many worried about his health moving forward.

Chris Tanev Resumes Skating In Toronto

The following day, Tanev was released from hospital after going through checkups, and while it was unclear when he'd be ready to return for the Maple Leafs, clearly, no long-term damage had been suffered.
Now, after a few days of waiting for an update, it has been revealed that Tanev is skating once again at Maple Leafs practice, which is a huge relief for many fans around the league that admire Tanev's game, and especially for Maple Leafs fans who want to see him back in the lineup.
This comes just one week after he was stretchered off in what appeared to be a brutal injury, but now, the toughness of the veteran continues to shine through as he appears ready to take the ice once more.
It's unclear exactly when he will be close to 100% and ready to return to the ice for Toronto in a game, but this is a much quicker recovery than most expected, and with the veteran seemingly okay after that collision, it shouldn't be long before we see him on the ice again.
