Blockbuster trade proposal emerges sending Mitch Marner to the Rangeres

A trade proposal has emerged sending Mitch Marner to the New York Rangers in what would be a off-season blockbuster trade.

The trade would send Mitch Marner to the New York Rangers in exchange for Alexis Lafreniere and Jacob Trouba.

Trouba has a full NMC which he has been using to block a potential trade to the Detroit Red Wings as speculation grew going into the draft. Same with Marner, who has been refusing a trade by honouring his clause. Many believe teams should honor those requests.

The Rangers and Maple Leafs should respect Jacob Trouba's and Mitch Marner's contractual clauses and not force them into a trade, says Adam Proteau.

Adding Jacob Trouba to the Leafs would provide some stability and a hard hitting force to their struggling blue line. Lafreniere would be the perfect playmaking winger for goalscorer Auston Matthews.

Alexis Lafrenière, the first overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, has shown potential but hasn't yet fully established himself as a top-tier player. A move to Toronto, with its high-powered offense and young core, could help Lafrenière reach his potential. His $2.3 million cap hit also provides significant cap flexibility for the Leafs.
