San Jose Sharks Rookie Goes Viral for Sad Celebration After First Career Goal
A San Jose Sharks rookie went viral for a sad celebration after scoring his first NHL career goal last night.
Scoring your first goal in the NHL is supposed to be one of the most exciting moments of a hockey player's career. This first goal is when you realize all the effort you put in led to results, when you can finally say that you made it.
Many young players celebrate that goal in style, but last night, a young player didn't look too happy to score that goal and nearly didn't celebrate at all.
The 20-year-old center
Cameron Lund was taking part in his second NHL game when he scored a goal on
Jonathan Quick in the third period of the game.
It's fair to think that he would have celebrated if his team wasn't losing 6-0 with only a few minutes left in the game.
In his post-game press conference, the rookie revealed that he was happy he scored his first goal, saying the puck will go to his parents:
"It was a great feeling to get the first one. I'm really happy. [The puck is] gonna go to my parents. My dad has a whole collection in his basement, so I'm sure he'll put it down there."
Sharks general manager Mike Grier had great words concerning the player when his contract signature was announced:
"Cam is a very talented player who brings speed, size, and skill to our group. We're excited to have him join the organization and look forward to watching him develop."
Lund and the Sharks will be back on the ice tonight to
face the Los Angeles Kings. Stay tuned for updates on both teams as we get closer to puck drop.
