The Buffalo Sabres dropped a tough one to Philadelphia on Saturday, and unfortunately had the possibility of a goal stolen by the officials as one got right in his way during a clear scoring opportunity.
The 2024/25 campaign has been another struggle for the Buffalo Sabres, as the team are once again on pace to finish in last place in the Atlantic Division, with yet another crucial off-season upcoming.
On Saturday, they fell short in another opportunity to finish their season strong, falling 7-4 against the Philadelphia Flyers, although
Jack Quinn showed even more potential with two goals and 3 points on the night.
Perhaps the moment of the game however once again involved the officials, as
Peyton Krebs was building momentum heading into the offensive zone before an official, for no reason simply got in his way and shut the play down.
This is yet another dreadful example of officials being out of position and simply expecting players to go around them, with many NHL officials drawing criticism for trying to make themselves the star of the show rather than the players on the ice.
Ultimately, it likely wouldn't have made much difference, as Krebs and the Sabres were outplayed by Philadelphia for the most part, but the NHL officials need to take note and simply get out of the way to allow the players to shine instead of taking these moments from them.
