Marc-Édouard Vlasic Calls Out Sharks Organization for Disrespectful Buyout Process

The San Jose Sharks drafted Marc-Edouard Vlasic way back in the 2005 NHL Draft in the second round, and ever since then he's remained loyal to the team, spending his entire career with them thus far.

In that time, Vlasic played in 1,323 games, compiling 84 assists and 379 points in that time, and with his career seemingly winding down, many expected him to be a one-team player.

This off-season however, the team officially bought him out, ending his run with the team and seeing him hit free agency, with significant interest in the 38-year old on the open market.

However, things didn't go too smoothly, as Vlasic has now called the team out for their disrespect, noting that they led him to believe he'd be back next season early in the summer, before changing their minds and buying him out a few months later.

Given the loyalty that he's shown the organization over his career, it's no shock that he's frustrated with how things were handled, but now, he appears motivated to make them regret the move.

At 38-years of age, it's unclear if he'll find another significant role in the NHL, but given the 20 years he spent with the organization, this was an unnecessary way for the Sharks to end the relationship, so it's very easy to see why he's upset and angered by the situation, and now, we'll see how it effects the relationship once he retires from the NHL.
