After Jake Guentzel was traded from the Penguins yesterday, Sidney Crosby gave his unfiltered response to the trade and what it would mean for the team going forward.

Crosby Gives High Praise to Guentzel After Being Traded and Doesn't Know What Message is Being Sent

Jake Guentzel has been what seems like Sidney Crosby's protege since he arrived in Pittsburgh in 2016. The two have obviously grown close, spending so many years together on the Penguins. Now, with Guentzel being traded, Crosby has opened up on how he feels about seeing him move on to another team.

«He's a great player, great teammate, a friend,» Crosby said. «He did everything he possibly could in his time here. Just a privilege to play with him.»

«Great memories,» Crosby said. «It was a privilege. That's all I can say.»

Crosby also stated that he didn't know what message this trade sent to the team, and that you'd have to ask GM Kyle Dubas what he was doing.

Crosby Unlikely to Be Traded But The Odds Aren't Zero

Sidney Crosby is Pittsburgh Penguins hockey, however, it is increasingly looking like that could come to a close while Crosby is still in the league. While it is unlikely that he is traded, the chances seem to be increasing as the deadline inches closer and closer.

Crosby rumors are really starting to heat up more than expected, nothing official and plenty of moving parts to get things in motion but talks are 🔥 #Avalanche #Canucks #Leafs

Sid is listening and he wants to do the right thing for Penguins franchise and also compete for Cup

While it remains unlikely, it seems like it is the most likely it ever will be in Crosby's career.
