After an up and down 2023/24 campaign, the Philadelphia Flyers have officially locked in veteran Travis Konecny to a long-term deal.
The Philadelphia Flyers future is very bright with the rise of several young stars, and now they've locked down one of their veterans to a huge extension. According to reports, Travis Konecny is looking at a deal worth $8.75 annually over eight-years, in what would be the richest deal in Flyers history, beating the previous record of Mike Richards at $69 million total.
Travis Konecny is closing in on an extension with the #Flyers.
The deal is an 8-year extension worth $8.75M AAV.
Shortly after reports emerged, the Flyers confirmed the news on social media;
In the past two years, the 27-year old forward has set career highs in points with 61 and then 68 this past year, and with the Flyers looking promising with the arrival of Matvei Michkov, locking down a veteran leader like Konecny to play under John Tortorella is a huge move. There were plenty of fans hoping that Travis would hit free agency next year, but it's clear the Flyers value him as a leader and potentially a future captain, and now, they've got him for another eight years as they look to restore their reputation as a winning franchise.
