Tonight, a new report has suggested that Brady Tkachuk’s time in Ottawa could be coming to an end as he has checked out mentally according sources.
The Ottawa Senators season has ended after falling short in a first round sweep against the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Senators were utterly dominated throughout the series against the Hurricanes with many placing blame on Ottawa’s biggest stars Brady Tkachuk and Tim Stutzle for not showing up.
With the Sens now eliminated, a report from NHL insider Frank Seravalli has indicated a change of scenery might be in order for Brady Tkachuk.
Brady Tkachuk’s future with the Senators in doubt after insider report
According to Seravalli, there is a belief around the league that Tkachuk has been “checked out” since returning from winning a gold medal at the Olympics with Team USA.
I've never questioned his heart and his commitment to win...but in some ways I can't help but feel like he's been a little bit checked out in Ottawa, and I don't know if that's post-Olympics or what
Since the Olympics, Tkachuk has been more noteworthy for his various comments as a podcast co-host with his brother Matthew than for his play as the Senators captain.
It remains unclear whether or not there was an incident in season that caused Tkachuk’s fall off in Ottawa or if he simply hit a slump.
If Tkachuk has checked out in Ottawa and lost faith in his teammates a big trade finding him a new home could be coming this summer.
As more information is provided on this situation and Tkachuk’s future in Ottawa, we will pass that news along to you.
