Tonight, a scary moment occurred in the Dallas Stars and Minnesota Wild playoff game as defenseman Nils Lundkvist was struck in the face by a skate.

The heated series between the Minnesota Wild and Dallas Stars continues tonight as the series remains in Minnesota for Game 3.
With the Stars up 2-1 in the series the Wild came into the game looking for a key win.
Midway through the game, a terrifying moment occurred as defenseman Nils Lundkvist was accidentally struck by Michael McCarron’s skate.

In the second period, Lundkvist was playing defense on McCarron when he accidentally tripped the Wild forward causing him to fall.
As McCarron fell to the ice he flailed his legs and accidentally struck Lundkvist in the face leading to a gash that would require Lundkvist to head to the locker room.
Lundkvist was evaluated by the Stars medical team and is now reportedly questionable to return due to his injuries.
While this is a frustrating injury for Lundkvist he is ultimately lucky that things did not end worse for him and that he could potentially return.
If he misses the rest of the game, attention will then turn to Stars head coach Glen Gulutzan for a post game update.
If Lundkvist is forced to miss future games it would be a major loss for the Stars who rely heavily on the Finnish defenseman to provide a calming presence on the back end.
As more information is provided in Lundkvist’s status we will pass those details along to you.
