The New York Rangers took down the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-1 last night. However, the game was not entirely without controversy.

Jonny Gaudreau Involved In Scary Collision With Rangers Forward

At one point in the game the Blue Jackets were advancing through the neutral zone with the puck when Rangers center Vincent Trocheck collided with Blue Jackets center Jonny Gaudreau. Trocheck appeared to try and jump out of the way at the last minute, but was unable to completely avoid the contact.

Following the play, chaos broke out as both teams came out to stand up for their players.
Rough stuff at MSG after Vinny Trocheck hits Johnny Gaudreau.

Gaudreau is shaken up, but in my opinion Trocheck looks like he's trying to avoid the hit.

Olivier comes in with a wicked cross check to the back of Trocheck as a result.

Trocheck Checks In On Gaudreau After Nasty Collision

The Rangers forward apparently went to the visiting team's locker room after the game to check in on Gaudreau. He also says that he was trying to check on him after the collision on the ice when he was cross checked in the back and chaos broke out.
Trocheck and Gaudreau are good friends so it is nice to see them reach out to each other in instances like this. This seems to support the idea that the collision was an accident as well, although it is hard to blame Gaudreau's teammates for their reaction.
