Islanders head coach Patrick Roy calls for one specific player to be named to Team Canada's Olympics roster

After some down seasons, the New York Islanders have turned things around in a big way this season, and behind an 8-6-2 record and their top stars clicking, this is a team to keep a close eye on in 2025/26, with their early performance seeing a major turnaround from everyone, including Patrick Roy.

While all eyes are currently on star rookie Matthew Schaefer, who has made the jump to success in the NHL much, much quicker than anyone expected, all of the Islanders big names have performed, including Bo Horvat.

The former Canucks forward has been at his best this season, and with 12 goals and 20 points through his first 16 games, he's on pace for career highs across the board this year.

His performance has caught the eye of everyone, and now, Roy has made a case for the 30-year old to be selected for Team Canada ahead of the 2026 Olympic Games in February.

Fans have taken to social media to campaign for Horvat to represent Team Canada as well, and while the forward group is one of the most loaded in the tournament, he would fit perfectly in a bottom-six role for Canada.

Ultimately, it's unclear at this point whether or not Horvat is directly on Canada's radar for the tournament, but with less than four months away until the Olympics begin, the veteran forward is giving himself every opportunity to be a part of that group looking to chase gold.
