Sheldon Keefe releases first statement since being hired by the Devils
Sheldon Keefe was recently hired as the new head coach of the New Jersey Devils and today he spoke for the first time since being hired by the team.
Sheldon Keefe has had a busy offseason already. After a crushing playoff loss as the head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs Sheldon Keefe was fired. Just a couple of weeks later it was announced he would be the new head coach of the New Jersey Devils.
Devils expected to make the Sheldon Keefe hire official tomorrow.
Keefe had a two-year extension kicking in with the Leafs next season but the Devils ripped that up and signed him to a fresh four-year deal (hint, got a raise over what the 2-year extension would have paid).
Now today Sheldon Keefe was given the opportunity to speak for the first time since being hired by the Devils. During his remarks he talked about how excited he is for the opportunity.
Sheldon Keefe: «To have the chance to lead this young, dynamic (#NJDevils) team and to see the potential that can still be unlocked is all very attractive for me. After meeting with David, Josh, Tom, and other members of the organization and in talking with my family, this was an opportunity that I couldn't turn down.»
Sheldon Keefe has always been praised for being able to motivate young groups of players and help them in their development. This will be a key part of his role with the New Jersey Devils. Now the New Jersey Devils can move forward as an organization with plan for the future
